Is IFP Revolutionary?

Short answer: No, because IFP was specifically engineered to NOT be revolutionary. I wanted a platform that leveraged existing industry technology to make Systems Integrator’s lives easier. I focused on how I could reduce labor costs, maintain net costs to the integrator, and deliver a reliable system based on proven technology. So how did we do it?

IFP leverages multiple technologies to provide a superior infrastructure experience versus category cable. One is WDM, Wave Division Multiplexing. This is the technology that allows us to send and receive over a single strand. How does this help the integrator? Tons of ways and is critical to what makes us cost competitive with cat6. With only one strand of fiber the integrator only needs to terminate one strand, which means half the connectors and therefore half the trim labor versus dedicated send/receive fiber strands. WDM also doesn’t require SFP modules so there is additional cost savings in product.

Another way that IFP guarantees success to the integrator is that our transceivers operate on 5-12vdc. This is nothing revolutionary, but addresses the issue of voltage loss over the wire length of up to 1000 feet! Because our products only need 5v to operate and our power supply is 12v, even after 1000 feet of 18/2 we are still at over 7v, giving the integrator assurance that the system will work great!

The last feature that makes IFP the perfect replacement for category cable is that we only need single mode fiber. Single mode fiber is less expensive that multimode fiber, saving the integrator raw material cost.

So reach out to us today to learn how IFP’s products can simplify the infrastructure part of your business.
